The ropeman has a multitude of uses, one of the most popular being incorporating the device into hauling systems for crevasse rescue.
The MK2 Rope man has been designed to work with skinnier ropes than the MK1. The cam on the MK2 is made of stainless steel, which although slighly heavier, means the device is safer for use on ropes down to 8.5mm.
The MK2 is the more verestille of the 2 devices as you can use it with half or single ropes.
