From inception some 33 years ago these units became known as 'Friends' to keep the project under wraps, a name now often used to refer to camming devices as a category. This third generation brings in more changes than before, both in manufacturing methods as well as geometry. Wild Country's aim was to produce the most complete cam, in terms of size range and ease of use.
New features include
Hot forged cam lobes - less material required, maximising strength to weight.
Redesigned lobe profile - greater range than in the earlier units and more consistent overlap between sizes. This also allows for fewer units to span the same range as originally offered by Technical Friends.
Thumb loop - a feature that has shown itself to be popular among many climbers.
Longer stem - makes deeper placements less fiddly.
Stainless steel axle
Trigger stops
Fully enclosed stem
Retained Features - features that make a Friend a Friend
Original 13.75 degree cam angle
Single axle
Single stem
Scaled head width
