Excellent crampon for harder climbing. With the G14 Grivel have taken the popular G12 and combined it with modular front points to give a more compact and user friendly crampon than a fully rigid model without losing out on performance. The G14 can be used in either dual or mono point mode which makes it ideal for harder mixed and ice routes where a mono point is a big advantage, allowing more precise footwork and smaller edges/vertical cracks to be utilised.
The other advantage the G14 is the fact that the front points can be replaced- so no excuses not to keep them sharp!
The G14 has been used by several members of staff for both ice and mixed climbing in the UK as well as for long routes in the Alps, the G14 has performed equally well, regardless of what has been thrown at it.

We currently stock the G14 in the following binding systems:
New Matic: Toe cup and heel clip- This is the best system for the majority of users, as it is by far the easiest to put on in reality, (i.e when out of the comfort of your home).This system is only suitable for B2 boots with a rear welt.
Cramp O Matic: Full step in, wire toe bail and heel clip- This system gives a clean front end of the boot as the wire bail is very low profile . It is very good for those intending on doing more mixed climbing as the wire toe bail is more hard-wearing. This is slightly more fiddly than the other systems to set up initially but is very secure when fitted properly. The advantage of this system over the new matic is that with big boots with a bulky toe profile, the cramp o matic offers a much cleaner front end. The Cramp O Matic Binding System also gives the most adjustment as the front welt can be moved back and forth. This system is only suitable for fully rigid (B3) boots with a front and rear welt.
GSB: The 'Grivel-Scarpa Binding System' (GSB) is designed to give a secure and user friendly interface between GSB compatible Scarpa Boots and Grivel Crampons. Obviously crampons with the GSB binding are only compatible with Scarpa boots that feature the GSB system also. However if you are in the market for new boots and crampons or already have GSB compatible Scarpa boots the the GSB binding is worth giving serious consideration due to its high security, ease of use and super clean toe profile when in use.
